Critics of bioidentical hormones seem to be in favor of the status quo: pharmaceutical companies developing, manufacturing, and distributing all prescription preparations, including hormones or hormone look-a-likes. Proponents of bioidentical hormones simply want a safe and viable alternative to non-bioidentical counterparts. Public records are available that provide undeniable evidence about numerous pharmaceutical companies purposely and knowingly allowing extremely dangerous drugs to be used by the vulnerable and unsuspecting public. Literally, thousands of innocent people have died or have been seriously injured as a result of this egregious behavior and blatant disregard for the lives of American citizens.
One of the basic science courses taught in medical school is pharmacology (the study of prescription medications, including their indications, actions, dosage, and side effects). The only courses given about nutrition are limited and barely touch the surface. Accordingly, there is little wonder that most physicians accept what they are told in regard to nutrition and scoff at the mention of home remedies that have a connection. That lack of information and training has led to many continuing myths.
